I used the medium sized hole, but switched to the largest size so their dental treats can come out too. Unfortunately, my smart Maine Coon (who can fetch, hi five, shake, and put his chin in your hand on command) has not learned how to step on the lever to shake out the treats yet. He's been just knocking it around until treats fall out. The other cats won't be able to do it because they're not strong enough. Will update once he's mastered it! It's been great as a distraction so far!

Unlike what the product page says, I would definitely advise against leaving your pet unattended while eating for safety reasons. It seems durable and doesn’t slide around on my wood and tile floors.
